Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTA) 2026: ‘Christ’ Tops Nominee List With 14

The nominations for the 2026 Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTA) are out. Fans and industry insiders are excited to see who made the list. The awards celebrate the best in Irish film and television each year.

“Receiving 14 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor, Christy has become one of the year’s most discussed films, with first-time IFTA nominees including screenplay writer Alan O’Gorman and actors Daniel Power, Emma Willis, and Jamie Forde.”

“The story centers on two estranged brothers, raised in the care system, who find themselves under one roof. Together, they must come to terms with their past and plan ahead.”

Saipan has the second-highest number of nominations after Christy, with 12 nods, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.” “The story follows Irish captain Roy Keane as he leaves the squad at their Saipan training camp after a fierce argument with manager Mick McCarthy, just before the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Directed by Richard Linklater, Blue Moon dominated with 8 nominations.

IFTA CEO, Áine Moriarty, added: “What a superb lineup of Nominees this year shortlisted for Irish Academy Awards. This incredible showcase of work reinforces the fact that Irish talent is truly amongst the best in the world, working both in front and behind the camera across the globe. We look forward to rewarding their work and achievements at the ceremony on February 20th.”
