This project is far more than just a film for Slaboshpytskyi. During the 1990s, he frequently visited the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone while working as a young television reporter and screenwriter, experiences that left a lasting impression on him.
Ukrainian director Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi earned international acclaim with his feature debut The Tribe (2014), a gripping psychological crime drama that won 37 international awards, including the prestigious Cannes Critics’ Week Grand Prize. The film also made history as the first feature ever shot entirely in Ukrainian Sign Language without voice-over or subtitles.
