American author and broadcast journalist Scott Pelley, after his high‑profile ouster from the newsmagazine in early June—a move that dominated national headlines—has now landed new representation with CAA.
It all started on June 1, when a very fiery clash between Pelley and Nick Bilton(60 Minutes’ new executive producer) in an internal network town hall.
At the town hall meeting, Pelley criticized Bari Weiss (CBS News’ new editor-in-chief ) he said “murdering 60 Minutes. She does not love this place; she was brought in to kill it and is doing exactly that.”
It’s not over—Pelley also challenged Bilton’s credentials, dismissing his Vanity Fair and New York Times work as little more than ‘slender qualifications.
Pelley, in a farewell note to colleagues, said, “60 has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.”
He became one of CBS News’ most respected journalists, covering some of the world’s biggest national and international stories. Over the years, he interviewed high-profile figures including President Joe Biden, Pope Francis, and former FBI Director James Comey, while also reporting from conflict zones across the globe, covering wars and major military operations from Afghanistan to Ukraine.
Pelley stepped onto the Wake Forest stage to deliver a stirring commencement address, inspiring the Class of 2025 with passion and conviction

Pelley said, “America works well when we listen to those with whom we disagree and when we listen and when we have common ground, and when we compromise. And one thing we can all agree on – one thing at least – is that America is at her best when everyone is included,”
added “This world is going to tell you ‘no’ a thousand times, but listen to the song in your heart. You only lose if you quit. Do not settle,”
