Netflix has officially renewed the Mike Schur comedy series “A Man on the Inside” for Season 3.

Netflix confirmed on February 3, 2026, that Ted Danson will return as Charles Nieuwendyk. The news comes around two months after the show’s sophomore season debuted.

The Netflix comedy, produced by Fremulon and Universal Television, premiered globally with its first season of eight episodes on November 21, 2024, followed by a second season of eight episodes released on November 20, 2025.

Debuting in November 2024, ‘A Man on the Inside’ drew rave reviews, stayed in Netflix’s Top 10 for five weeks, and brought Ted Danson Golden Globe and SAG nods.

In the first Season, Widowed professor Charles Nieuwendyk answers an ad for an investigative role, going undercover at a San Francisco retirement home to recover a ruby necklace. What begins as a mystery evolves into a poignant story of aging and connection, ending with the revelation that the theft was an innocent mistake by a resident facing memory challenges.

Season 2 sees Ted Danson return as Charles Nieuwendyk, now a licensed private investigator tackling a high‑stakes case at Wheeler College. Undercover as a lecturer, he probes the theft of President Jack Beringer’s laptop, uncovering a blackmail plot aimed at sabotaging a $400 million pledge from a polarizing billionaire donor.”

The producing team includes Morgan Sackett, David Miner of 3 Arts Entertainment, Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez of Micromundo Producciones, as well as Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements of Motto Pictures, with Universal Television serving as the studio.
