Sovereign, the UK-based film production and distribution company, has launched its Italian distribution wing to tap into local audiences and expand its global footprint
The film is written and directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye. The feature documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Producers are Dan Wechsler and Andreas Roald. Cinematographers are Fábio Erdos and Gabriel Bonnefoy, and the Editor is Kenneth Wachtel.
The cast of Desire: Craig himself, the film includes legendary French DJ Laurent Garnier, Detroit house trailblazer DJ Minx, and techno innovator with Roni Size, a pioneer of drum and bass, pianist-producer Jon Dixon, broadcaster and tastemaker Gilles Peterson.
Italian theatrical release in October of Desire: The Carl Craig Story, based on Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig showing how the city’s mix of Motown, jazz, and industrial decline shaped his early love for sound. As a teenager, Craig discovers the emerging techno movement, mentored by pioneers like Derrick May. His passion leads to the creation of his own label, Planet E Communications, where he pushes the boundaries of techno by blending it with jazz, classical, and experimental elements.
