BAFTA-nominated (The Long Shadow) writer George Kay’s psychological drama Gone, starring Eve Myles and David Morrissey, has unveiled its official trailer on ITV

Directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Richard Laxton, the drama unfolds around local headmaster Michael Polly (Morrissey), who becomes the chief suspect in the sudden disappearance of his wife, Sarah. A pillar of the community, Michael is meticulous and thrives on order, but his carefully maintained façade begins to crack when he clashes with determined detective Annie Cassidy (Myles). What follows is a taut psychological duel, as Cassidy relentlessly probes beneath his composed exterior in pursuit of the truth.

Inspired by real-life investigations, the series is based on the careers of former Detective Superintendent Julie Mackay and ITV Crime Correspondent Robert Murphy, and draws from their book To Hunt A Killer. Produced by Mark Hedges, the executive producers are Kay, Laxton, Willow Grylls, and Matt Sandford

David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) heads the cast as Michael Polly, a prominent private school headmaster whose life unravels when he becomes the chief suspect in his wife’s sudden disappearance. Opposite him, Eve Myles (Torchwood, Hijack) portrays Detective Annie Cassidy, a sharp and relentless investigator intent on uncovering the truth behind Michael’s composed façade. Emma Appleton (Everything I Know About Love) appears as Alana, Michael’s daughter, who teaches at the same school and finds herself caught in the growing turmoil.

The supporting cast features a strong ensemble of British and international talent, including Jennifer Macbeth (Maternal), Arthur Hughes (Shardlake), Nicholas Nunn (Sexy Beast), Elliot Cowan (Foundation), Billy Barratt (Responsible Child) as Dylan, Rupert Evans (Charmed), Jodie McNee (Britannia), Oscar Batterham (Truelove), and Clare Higgins (The Worst Witch).

George Kay is a prominent English screenwriter and producer whose work has made a significant impact on contemporary television. He is best known as the creator and writer of Lupin on Netflix, the global sensation starring Omar Sy that became one of the platform’s most-watched non-English series.

Kay also co-created and executive-produced Hijack for Apple TV+, a gripping real-time thriller led by Idris Elba. His versatility is evident in Criminal on Netflix, an anthology series with localized versions in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain. He wrote and created The Long Shadow for ITV, a true-crime drama chronicling the five-year manhunt for Peter Sutcliffe, and penned Litvinenko for ITVX/AMC+, which explores the investigation into the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko. Earlier in his career, Kay contributed to the acclaimed first season of Killing Eve on BBC America, further cementing his reputation as a writer with range and impact across genres and platforms.
