Disney releases the first trailer for its live-action Moana remake, showcasing Dwayne Johnson’s return as Maui and Catherine Laga‘aia’s debut as Moana. Here’s everything revealed in the teaser.
Disney’s Moana (2026) trailer has been released. It is a live-action adaptation of the 2016 animated film Moana. In the original animated film, “After a blight spreads across her island, harming the plants and fish, Moana, the daughter of Chief Tui, travels across the sea to retrieve the heart of Te Fitti from Maui.”

Disney’s Moana (2026) casts Catherine Laga‘aia as the fearless heroine, while Dwayne Johnson reprises his fan-favorite role as Maui in this live-action reimagining.From producers Johnson, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The cast includes Frankie Adams, who portrays Sina, Moana’s playful yet determined mother who always supports her daughter. John Tui takes on the role of Chief Tui, Moana’s caring and cautious father. Rena Owen brings warmth to the role of Gramma Tala, the village’s storyteller and Moana’s guiding light.
