Solly McLeod & Richard Roxburgh to Star in New Stan & Channel 4 Thriller ‘Careless’

The upcoming thriller Careless will unfold on Stan in Australia and Channel 4 in the UK. Crafting the series are Louise Fox, celebrated for Broadchurch, and Helen Fitzgerald, whose credits include The Cry.

Starring Solly McLeod, Robyn Malcolm, Katie Leung, and Richard Roxburgh, the series promises high-stakes drama with talent drawn from acclaimed titles including House of the Dragon, After The Party, Bridgerton, and Rake.
The cast also includes Mabel Li (The Testaments), Thomas Weatherall (The Narrow Road to the Deep North), and Alison Peebles (Dept. Q)

Robbie, played by Solly McLeod, a Scottish backpacker in Sydney, lands an unexpected opportunity when he applies to care for Mike (Roxburgh), a troubled rock music icon living with multiple sclerosis. Against the odds, Robbie impresses at the interview and secures the job. As Robbie grows closer to Mike, he also forms a bond with Mike’s wife, Angela (Malcolm), becoming a trusted support for them both. But as he settles deeper into their lives, a hidden part of Robbie’s past begins to surface—one that could put them all in danger.

Directed by Stevie Cruz-Martin (Safe Home), the series features scripts from Louise Fox (episodes 1, 2, and 4) and Christian White (episode 3). Louise Fox and Adrian Burns serve as executive producers, joined by Michael Healy and Andy Ryan for Stan, and Kieran Hannigan for Screen Scotland. The series was pre-bought by Polly Scates for Channel 4.

Production is underway in Sydney and Glasgow on the Stan series, a collaboration between Synchronicity Films (The Tattoo of Auschwitz) and Easy Tiger Productions (Colin From Accounts). The project is being made in association with Channel 4, Nine Network, All3Media International, and Screen Scotland, supported by Screen NSW.
