Zhang Yimou’s latest spy thriller, Scare Out, featuring Jackson Yee and Zhu Yilong, will arrive in theaters across the U.K. and Ireland on February 20, 2026, following Trinity CineAsia’s acquisition of the distribution rights.

Spy thriller “Scare Out” gets an early start with preview screenings on February 17, the same day it hits home platforms. It will then roll out in theaters across the U.K. and Ireland on February 20.

Trinity CineAsia will bring Zhang Yimou’s latest spy thriller“Scare Out” to audiences in the U.K. and Ireland after striking a deal with Damai Entertainment for regional distribution. Trinity CineAsia’s recent releases include Bi Gan’s Resurrection, the war epic Dongji Rescue, Jackie Chan’s “The Shadow’s Edge, “​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​and the animated smash“Ne Zha 2”.

It stars major Chinese box office icons Jackson Yee (“Better Days,” “Full River Red”) and Zhu Yilong (“Only the River Flows”), together with Yang Mi (“She’s Got No Name”), Lei Jiayin (“A Writer’s Odyssey”), and Song Jia (“Her Story”). with cameo appearances by Zhang Yi, Liu Shishi, and Liu Yaowen.

The film centers on a National Security squad working urgently to track down spies who have leaked classified intelligence about China’s latest fighter jet technology. The undercover operation broadens beyond intelligence circles into civilian life as the pursuit escalates

Zhang has received three Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film (Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern, and Hero) and previously helmed period wuxia epics such as Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Written by Chen Liang and produced by Damai Entertainment, Scare Out marks Zhang’s first step into contemporary national security drama.
