Broadway Barks 2026 Returns to New York With Broadway Stars and Hundreds of Adoptable Pets.

Broadway Barks, the beloved annual pet adoption event, is returning to New York City’s Theater District for its 28th year. Hosted by co-founder Bernadette Peters and two-time Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells, the free event brings together some of Broadway’s biggest stars and hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats in search of forever homes.

Since its launch in 1998, Broadway Barks has helped thousands of animals find loving families while raising awareness about pet adoption.

When and Where Is Broadway Barks 2026?

The 28th annual Broadway Barks will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the heart of Manhattan.

Event Schedule

  • 3:00 PM: Meet-and-greet with adoptable dogs and cats.
  • 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Celebrity pet presentations on stage.

The event will be held at Shubert Alley, located between West 44th and 45th Streets, just off Broadway.

Best of all, admission is completely free, making it easy for everyone to stop by, meet the animals, and learn about adoption.

A Tradition Started by Broadway Legends

Broadway Barks was co-founded in 1998 by legendary actress Bernadette Peters and the late television icon Mary Tyler Moore. Their goal was simple: give homeless animals a chance to find loving homes while bringing together the Broadway community for a great cause.

Nearly three decades later, the event has become one of New York City’s most popular pet adoption celebrations.

Star-Studded Celebrity Lineup

This year’s event will be hosted by co-founder Bernadette Peters alongside two-time Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells.

Produced by the nonprofit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the event will feature appearances from many well-known Broadway and Hollywood stars.

The 2026 lineup includes:

  • Ayo Edebiri
  • Melissa Barrera
  • Shoshana Bean
  • Laurie Metcalf
  • Caissie Levy
  • Bebe Neuwirth
  • Ben Vereen

Each celebrity will help introduce adoptable pets to the audience, encouraging visitors to consider giving them a forever home.

A Remarkable Adoption Success Story

Broadway Barks has made a huge difference over the years.

Since its launch 27 years ago, the event has showcased more than 2,500 dogs and cats—and remarkably, about 85% of them have gone on to find permanent homes.

The event also raises money through donations, silent auctions, and signed Broadway memorabilia. Every dollar collected is shared equally among more than 20 animal shelters and rescue organizations across the Tri-State area.

Some of the participating organizations include:

  • Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC)
  • Best Friends Animal Society
  • Bideawee
  • Badass Animal Rescue
  • Long Island Golden Retriever Rescue

Why Broadway Barks Matters

Whether you’re looking to adopt a new best friend or simply want to spend an afternoon surrounded by adorable animals and Broadway stars, the event offers something for everyone.

With free admission, celebrity appearances, and hundreds of lovable pets waiting to meet their future families, Broadway Barks 2026 promises to be one of New York City’s most heartwarming summer events.
