Why Does Matt Spicer’s ‘Little Brother’ Look So Different From ‘Ingrid Goes West’?

Little Brother

What’s going on at Netflix? The DC superhero Cena collaboration with comedy mastermind Eric André delivers a trailer packed with stupidity, shock, and pure stress-fueled chaos.

Yes, I’m talking about Little Brother, the upcoming Netflix comedy starring John Cena alongside Eric André, directed by Matt Spicer. The trailer looks like a wild mix of little comedy, chaotic energy, shocking moments, and nonstop stress-filled madness.

Matt Spicer returns to the director’s chair after 17 years with Little Brother, following his last feature film, Ingrid Goes West (2017), the acclaimed dark comedy that won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival for writers David Branson Smith and Matt Spicer. Spicer is also known for producing Flower and directing the short film It’s Not You It’s Me (2013).

In Little Brother, John Cena stars as Rudd, a successful real estate agent whose carefully organized life is thrown into chaos when his eccentric younger brother, Marcus Pinchel, played by Eric André, suddenly returns. The film also features Michelle Monaghan as Deirdre, Christopher Meloni as Josh, Ego Nwodim as Leonore, Sherry Cola as Mia, and Caleb Hearon as Olly.

Eric André is best known for his Primetime Emmy-winning The Eric Andre Show, along with roles in The Righteous Gemstones, Sing 2, and the Netflix hidden-camera comedy Bad Trip.

From DC’s capes to Netflix’s chaos, the André–Cena combo sparks debate—while Little Brother readies its June 26 premiere.
